Goalkeeping Academy

When it comes to developing players, IFC strives to achieve excellence. With goalkeeping being one of the most specialized and important positions on the field, cutting corners in development is NOT an option!

Our Goalkeeping Academy program is headed by former Chelsea Football Club coach & IFC Director of Coaching, Coach Craig Hollis.

Coach Hollis comes from a very experienced background. Aside from playing the position growing up, he has also developed many goalkeeping programs in clubs up and down the east cost of the United States.

Coach Hollis puts our IFC players through a very challenging and unique curriculum that helps master player foundations and continues through advanced keeping skills that help build a wide knowledge of the position itself.  From working with keepers at a developmental stage, right through to building player skills & profiles for college preparation.

"Teaching a goalkeeper is like no other area of coaching and is one not be taken lightly. Being taught how to use quick, powerful, acrobatic movements safely is vital to any goalkeepers skill level and knowledge. Not rushing the stages of an individuals development, through quality and rigorous repetition, is a must-have philosophy in every goalkeeping coach's training methods" says Coach Hollis.

Our Curriculum
Our Goalkeeping Academy puts players to the test with both foundation skills and advanced skills specialized and unique training. Our Academy runs up to three nights a week going through the foundations of how a goalkeeper should set up for every shot; 'W', Cup & Scoop basic handling; along with low dive and high dive handling. Pushing players to their limit through advanced skills such as 1 on 1s, reaction saves, recovery saves, angle adjustments and that all important disruption and foot work combinations. Being able to do this at a competitive and higher level performance, takes more than just the know how. Players are also but through sessions based around speed, agility, quickness & power (plyometic) training that is unique and specific to the goalkeeping potion.

Costs
Our Academy is open to all players within and around Iredell County. For all IFC players, the academy is included within the costs of the membership. For all non IFC members, each training is at a cost of $15.00 per hour session.
